Using One-Pager
What should I put on my site?
Our demo can be used as a starting point and can meet many library needs as is. However, ideally you'll include what your users need most, cutting away the rest.
What labels should I use?
Again, use the demo site as a starting point. If you change the content you'll have to make a new label. Go out into the library and ask 20 people "How would you describe XX?" and see what they say. There will probably be a common answer. Use that.
How can I make the search box work?
If you already have a search box on your website all you'll have to do copy and paste the code you're using into One-Pager. There's a note in the code where to do it.
Can I add more sections to the site?
Sure you can. But should you? One-Pager is all about paring your site back to the absolute essentials and getting rid of unnecessary content. So think long and hard before adding more sections to your site. Embrace the constraints! Your users will thank you.
Should I test my site? How?
Yes! Always. The "how" part will depend on what you're testing. You can ask some users specific questions, do a card sort or two, or simply watch your users use your One-Pager site. Or all three. Early and often.
What This is and isn't
What makes a website excellent? Focus, great writing and appealing visual design.
One-Pager helps you get there by taking a radical and sensible approach to library websites: fewer elements presented in a simple, functional interface. So you get to spend your time making your content excellent.
One-Pager is not (yet) wrapped in a CMS, which would allow for easy posting and two-way communication. The current suggested events display is also limited, being best suited to simple chronological display.
